We'll take a look at the Laugo Alien Gun to determine - if anyone has experience making stupid extravagant financial decisions - just how stupid it can be. Let me present the idea and conclusion: As one of the regular guys who owned the Lagos Alien Signature Edition pistol, I am happy to report that the hype is justified. .
The effect of this unique gun design is not magical. If you can't shoot $500 worth of beans, you can't shoot $500 worth of beans. Still, Lago Alien is… of course. This dramatically rewards good technique without the need for barrel compensation or porting.
Laugo Arms' Alien Pistol Is Completely Different
According to the designers, the recovery vector goes directly to the strong arm network. With proper forearm strength and technique, and a little practice, an experienced shooter can maintain a sight pattern throughout recovery. That is, to a strange handling experience, especially on a gun that does not discharge gas vertically.
My rapid fire group size was much smaller than the group with my other guns... On the order of 50%. I couldn't land a round beyond my head on a regular scope at seven yards as quickly as I could with my amateur trigger finger.
The Laugo Alien feels like a pistol in the hand, but the rapid fire results are like a carbine. Again, this is not because a gun makes it "easier", it doesn't necessarily replace good technique, but because it rewards you for doing your job, just like the right tool. It's something I've never experienced in the same way, except with a carabiner.
My results with the Laugo Alien in Slow Fire were equally impressive. The pistol rewarded me by eliminating the very small angle in my trigger pull vector, moving the point of impact a quarter of an inch to the left of the target to center at seven yards.

I have no way of knowing how accurate this gun is. With a simple reworked FMJ and red dot, I was able to see almost no scatter at seven yards. As long as my technique is correct, the bullet lands less than a millimeter from rest in the center of the dot. The gun is accurate.
I hired a bunch of novice shooters to help me test this thing out, some experienced with rifles and pistols but less with pistols and a few new to shooting. We've noticed that every improvement a shooter makes in their technique dramatically reduces group size in rapid fire and greatly reduces firing position in slow fire. It's just good.
Here I noticed the capricious nature of the alien. Others have rightly stated that such a low barrel axis leads to sharp recoil pressure. Your hand, wrist, and forearm will absorb all of the impact, unlike a big-barreled gun that sends at least some of it in a twisting motion at the wrist.
With the Alien, the downswing doesn't feel like a straight spin, but a hard impact on the webbing of your hand. Think about the difference between a .92 (or other high caliber) pistol and a relatively low caliber pistol like a GLOCK. The Alien is the GLOCK in this comparison, only much, much bigger.

Thanks to its weight, the strength of the service springs, and the gas-delayed recoil system, the Alien's recoil pressure is not unpleasant like a shotgun. A female tester who prefers to deal with the awkward muzzle rise of high-caliber pistols with the GLOCK and their relatively low-caliber barrels will be delighted with the Allianz.
And this is confirmed: together with Alyan, for the first time in her life, she fires a gun at a rate of fire that creates a uniform parabolic stream of hollow brass in the air.
She didn't have the forearm strength to shoot the high barreled gun that fast, and she didn't want to because it hurt so much with the other low barreled guns. With Alyan, even for her, it was a joy to let the full force of the 9mm rounds go as fast as possible to trigger her finger. To her credit and the gun, she made narrow six-yard openings.
Unlike many of the more customized matches I've shot, Alien seems extremely reliable. For hundreds of rounds fired, we had not a single malfunction; A simple, inexpensive reworked FMJ with slow and rapid fire. This is interesting because the same ammunition in other quality weapons will not fire (between 1% and 2%).
