First Presbyterian Preschool began as a Mother's Day program. The preschool opened its doors in September 1979 with 32 children and two teachers. Today, the preschool has over 140 children!

First Presbyterian Preschool is the early childhood ministry of First Presbyterian Church, whose primary mission is to provide an outstanding preschool experience in a Christian environment. The school is dedicated to the intellectual, cultural, emotional, social, physical and spiritual growth of students. I am happy to share the news with our family that we have received a perfect sort from the state on our last 3 license visits.

Two of these visits were our annual license inspections. These are very extensive tests and last several hours. They review records, observe classrooms, observe child-teacher interactions, check toys and equipment, monitor meal programs, to name a few. Literally hundreds of items are part of the test. Last year they added another advanced inspection called (Subsidy Inspection). This test is carried out on the same day as the routine test and covers health and safety items. We have not been cited for any violations. This is not even a test!

I am sharing this news with our families to thank you for choosing Colonial Day School for your child care needs and to validate your choice of CDS.

Community Beach Park Playground

I want to let you know about some important things happening at Colonial Day School from October to December.

Our annual Halloween Costume Party and Neighborhood Parade will be held on Wednesday, October 31st at 10:00am. The kids really enjoy walking down the street and the neighbors sign in our quiet neighborhood and then come to finish their party in the driveway…..usually going all day.

November is "Thanksgiving" month and on Wednesday, November 14th we will be having our Thanksgiving celebration for the kids.

The Children's Christmas Program will be held on Friday 7th December at 10:00am and the Children's Christmas Lunch on Wednesday 19th December.

We are in the process of finalizing our 2018 summer program at Colonial Day School and we hope you and your family will join us.

Good Afternoon Everyone, Just wanted to share some BIG, AWESOME, GREAT news with you……Our inspector was in today and did 2 inspections today…..I am proud to report that we received our grant inspection and inspection and our license – “ 0 on both” Violations. Staff work hard to ensure that all children and families are safe and that all standards are met. When you see your child's teacher compliments...they'll be glad you know. Child Care Programs And Services

We had a great time today....Mr. Scott Mahon, Deputy Emergency Management for the City of Norfolk, joined us to provide a program for our school age children:  "Pillow Case Program" - This program is designed to teach children how to prepare even if they have an actual set. Emergency disaster.
