Best Edc Revolver

Determining your best everyday carry gear is ultimately a personal decision. A one-size-fits-all approach doesn't really work. That said, this guide will help you narrow down your options to decide which guns, knives, and flashlights fit your lifestyle and budget. The three items I've highlighted here are some of the most versatile and minimal EDC accessories you'll find.

Best 357 Magnum Revolvers

Keep it stupid and simple. This is good advice for solving most problems in life. This is great advice when you start putting together your EDC kit. The simpler your gear, the better you will be in an emergency.

One advantage of these display items is that a total of two actions are required to operate all three. Revolvers operate with a simple trigger pull, flashlights have a basic toggle switch, and fixed-blade knives have no moving parts. There are no safety devices to operate, no need to pop the blade, and no need to press a button. These movements are simple to perform and require no fine motor skills.

I don't need to tell you that you should be using your device regularly to stay productive. But, like rinsing your mouth after every meal or taking 10 minutes to stretch every morning, it's one of those "shoulds" that is often overlooked.

Keeping your EDC kit as simple as possible will help reduce problems that rust methods can cause. This is something to consider before choosing to hang the micro-1911 on your hip.

Edc Loadouts: Roll Out With A Wheel Gun

The principle of accessing K.I.S.S. is to be as small as your EDC. The best everyday carry gear is only "everyday" if you can take it with you wherever you go. One advantage of all three is that I can put them in any pants that have pockets, and if my shirt isn't tucked in or I'm wearing a light jacket, everything is hidden nicely.

Portability is key. A pistol or knife won't do you any good if you can't carry it with you in every situation. With this kit, I keep the revolver on my strong side (for me, the left hand) and the knife and flashlight in my right pocket.

If I go somewhere where handguns aren't allowed, the knife moves to the left pocket and the flashlight stays on the right.

Two personal defense loadouts to complement the Smith & Wesson Pro Series 442 .38 Special + P include Hornady's 110-grain FTX (top) and Federal's 130-grain HST. John B. Snow

Tip: Choosing An Edc Pistol

Ask two gun owners to make the best carry gun and you'll get at least three opinions. As a result, I find that many people will take issue with my choice of the Smith & Wesson Performance Center Pro Series 442 model. (The name just rolls off the tongue, doesn't it?)

The biggest points of contention are its 5-round capacity, the lack of cool gadgets - like weapon lights, lasers, and red dot sights - and the fact that most people will be using semi-autos these days. It's a world that worships Domination Tactics, and Revolver has an uncool retro vibe.

This .38 Special is as smart as a brick, which is why it's a great choice for EDC. The J-Frame has been around since 1950 and its history of reliability is undeniable.

Of all the J-frames, I include this on my list of the best everyday carry gear for a number of reasons. The compact size and weight make it particularly portable. It has a 1.875" barrel and is approximately 6.5" in overall length. When I touch the revolver with my finger, it doesn't hang over the edge at all. The frame is made of aluminum alloy and the empty weight is reduced to 14.5 ounces. Whether in a holster or in a pocket, this gun is comfortable to carry.

Enclosed hammer and low profile fixed sights with full front ramps and square notches in the rear of the frame reduce the chances of the gun getting caught on clothing or anything else.

Synthetic rubber grips provide a secure hold and work well in cold and wet conditions. The matte black finish has withstood more than a year of hard use, helping to keep the visual character to a minimum.

The revolver is rated for .38 Special +P ammunition. I mainly use two loads. Federal's HST Micro 38 Special + P has a 130 grain jacket blank that sits with brass so not a single bullet will come out of the case. It's an interesting sight, but the HST bullet is one of the top choices for personal defense because it strikes a good balance between penetration and extension. The other is the 110-grain FTX cartridge from Hornady's Critical Duty line. The recycling of these +P rounds is definitely noticeable, but not overwhelming.

Best Edc Revolver

Both rounds work flawlessly in the pistol and the accuracy has been great. It was not difficult to hit 66% of IPSC targets at 15 yards and closer. Just mastering the double action of a revolver will take some practice -- especially if you've never fired a revolver before -- but that's what air fire is all about. For faster reloading, the revolver was fitted with a moon clip.

For more intense practice, I use Black Hills Ammunition .38 Special Cowboy Action ammo. These 158-grain rounds have a muzzle velocity of only 800 fps, so they fire softly and are easy to control.

Ideal for everyday cutting tasks, the Amtac Northman is a highly concealed blade for personal protection. John B. Snow

I can't begin to count how many knives I've carried over the years. There must have been dozens. The Amtac Northman has been my daily companion for the past two years and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

This solid knife has a fixed 3.5" blade and an overall length of 6 ¾". Its design is clever on multiple levels, which is why it's one of the best everyday carry gear. First, the symmetrical geometry of the blade allows it to reverse in the two sheaths it comes in, meaning you can quickly change the knife from one pocket to the other.

A Revolver For Concealed Carry? Edc —

As I mentioned before, this allows you to place it on your support side as a backup when you have a gun, or on your strong side when you don't have one. One sheath has a steel clip to hold the knife securely in the pocket. Despite the many miles I've put on the knife, the clip is still as strong as the day I got it. The clip is designed so the knife fits deep in your pocket so it doesn't protrude more than a standard pocket bag. As a bonus, one side of the sheath includes a ferrule that can be used as fire steel. The second sheath has no clips and can be hidden deeper.

The handle consists of two G10 inserts machined with scalloped grooves on each side. That, plus a little jump on the top and bottom near the rear of the handle, allow for a positive and firm grip.

The spear point blades are sharpened on one side, I have a version that includes a short serrated section. This arrangement offers a great deal of flexibility. This knife is great for everyday cutting work, but has a puncture point for personal defense work.

Best Edc Revolver

As with any spear point, you have to be careful not to abuse the point - the blade is not designed to be angled. I lent the knife to a friend of mine who was trying to remove the remover from the bolt on his rifle, but it quickly jammed the tip.

The Top Pistols Used By Today's Idpa Shooters

Now this knife is not cheap. It's priced at $450. I think not only is the blade itself worth it, but you also get great customer service. I sent my knife back to Amtac owner Bill Rapier and he sent it back for free and restored it to its former glory.

In addition to the two scabbards, the knife comes with a blunt training knife for combat work.

Streamlight's Wedge is easy to operate, portable and built to withstand the rigors of use. John B. Snow

Also on my list of the best everyday gear is this slim charm light from Streamlight. The Wedge is slim, compact, shoots a powerful beam, and couldn't be easier to handle.

Best 22 Pistols

It's shaped like a thick ballpoint pen with flattened sides, so it fits easily in pockets and the usual pen holders found in bags and backpacks. It's held in place by a clip that can be attached to either side of the aluminum body, making the Wedge fully ambidextrous. Grooves on the sides of the body provide a firm grip.
