Awcy Glock - Introducing the AWCY Scorpion EVO, a hybrid 3D printed firearm that uses an OEM bolt, barrel, stock bolts and springs, a printed receiver, and printed furniture. The first major firearms release from AWCY, a newcomer to the gun CAD world alongside FOSSCAD and Deterrence Dispensed. It is a closed group focused on developing open source home-built firearms and accessories for the masses.
If you pick up one of the factory guns from the shop, you'll be able to tell exactly why AWCY decided to take on this project: it's practically designed to be 3D-printed. The Scorpion uses a clamshell casing, not unlike an airsoft pistol, to enclose the bolt/slide assembly, hold the stock, and secure the barrel assembly. All this while maintaining a degree of manufacturability that allows for effective skull cave creation from the CZ factory or at home. With the 3D printer, AWCY has taken another step in human emancipation and has put another nail in the coffin of American gun control.

When asked why Scorpion was chosen as a project, Vityaz, a member of AWCY Keybase, replied:
D Printing Parts Tools Frames Magazines Accesories
"Well, I'm sure the others may have their own reasons or input. But I think Scorp basically started with a V8 with an extra FCG... So he decided to start modeling it. I believe he and a member of sc0rp (AWCY) ) did the lower ones first. Then everyone else went up. I think insertmeow has PSA magazines on his model before he joined the dev team. The project has just been removed because the scorpion seems to be really good. suitable design for 3dp. Basically it became with the goal of making it as printable as possible and reproducing as many spare parts as possible. Each developer made or basically made some parts. It was really a group effort."
"It was like a whirlwind of activity (in a good way), it really started to pick up around the time of the first COVID-19 shutdown. It seemed like a new part was being created and developed almost every day.
"I'm still amazed at how fast the main dev part was. Yeah, the dev went crazy fast and we spent most of our time trying to get accurate details like the prefab. Lol. Editing
Assembly is a fairly simple process that involves putting all the parts into a flip shell and screwing the two sides together.
Awcy's Hybrid 3d Printed Scorpion Evo
Lucky for us, AWCY pulled out all the stops for this release, and in addition to releasing the files, they also included a comic book with step-by-step instructions on how to put it together.
It's real. They made a comic book with cutouts of a scorpion, explaining how to put it together. It's an actual thing.
If the thought of printing your own CZ scorpion doesn't excite you, there are several additional mods and accessories that you may be interested in. In printed form, the Scorpion is just as customizable as the AR15. Many handguards in both free floating and barrel nut styles, grips, support/arm mounts and printable magazines.
Created by the AWCY Scorp Dev Team, the Scorpion platform has a wide variety of accessories and peripherals: handguards, racks and braces, magazines and grips. Additional peripherals have also been independently created by members of DD2, such as Vinh Nguyen, who has created new styles of trigger shoes, magazine releases, and an improved selector that doesn't bite into the hand. Don't like OEM grips, but can't justify the price for an aftermarket grip. You can simply download and print your much more convenient pistol grip.
